SSX is a video game that features snowboarding. Electronic Arts was the publisher and EA Canada was the developer of this exciting video game. This franchise which is a big hit on consoles like Wii, PS2 and Xbox will now be available to Xbox 360 and PS3. Compared to the former SSX releases which utilized imaginary courses, this latest version offers gamer can board down 27 mountains in nine mountain ranges worldwide, like Antarctica and the Alps. The gameplay offered by SSX have free-roaming feature which is enhanced compared to the older versions. Fixed paths are removed and barriers are also reduced meaning that gamers can choose their route as they descend the mountain. SSX also offer gamers with chopper drop to start their descent and they may also use a wing-suit to fly further when jumping.

Many gaming modes are present in the SSX. In “Race It” mode, you can compete with other players to reach the bottom of the selected mountain. You should reach it first in order for you to win that race. In the “Trick It” mode, you should complete all the extraordinary tricks. Being a point system, you must get the highest score for you to become the top player in the leaderboard. The survival mode offered by SSX where players need to survive fortuitous events like avalanche and rockslides while on the race. Lastly, the exploration mode allow gamers to conquer all the available descent within the video game, you can set your best time and score for other players to beat and compete with the run saved of other players.

  • Locations of the races. In order to accurately reproduce many of the famous mountains around the world, geotagging data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was utilized in SSX.
