Mark Rein, vice-president of Epic Games confirmed that their company is under negotiations with Microsoft and Sony to assist them in their next gen consoles. Rein imparts that he is happy about it and he can’t wait for these hardware to provide a great leap in capabilities and performance compared to the consoles of today.

He said that having a console that you can plug at home is a big leap or the gaming industry, and that these gaming hardware should be justifiable and do almost everything. But it will take time for these consoles to become available at reasonable price.

He continued that the GDC 2011 demo of the firm which showed a battle between thugs and cyberpunk peacekeeper in a city street is what they want for the next gen of consoles to do. He added that in order to determine the capabilities of the next gen consoles, he remains positive that Microsoft and Sony will be meeting with lots of video game developers and middleware firms to shape and try what it would be. The elemental demonstration is same thing and that it shows lot of capabilities if that power will be provided to them.

When asked about the offerings of the next gen hardware for this generation besides from a giant step in terms of power, Rein added that there will come a time that manufacturers of gaming consoles will make bounds and leaps regarding their provided services on the gaming console.

For an instance, you have already seen Sony making lots of enhancements. They supplemented their XMB with many new features and things that are related to entertainment. Same thing also happened at Microsoft, the company has Hulu, cloud saves and the amazing NBA stuff that they have already shown. These two firms are layering on cool services, which mean that their services will manifest big improvements.

The next gen consoles are capable of doing something more profound compared to this generation of consoles. Rein thinks that the console manufacturers are getting ready and gradually keeping up bit by bit, and when they are already sure that their hardware has new capabilities, they will surely take them to their advantage. He added that memory and graphical capability, which are the things needed to push games forward will also get some big bump. But despite all the capabilities that will be offered by Unreal Engine IV and the new consoles, he mentioned that Epic Games is grateful to know that Xbox 360 is being supported by Microsoft after all these years.

Rein continued that they are happy with regard to the console business’s state today when it comes to the Xbox 360 as they have created successful video games on the gaming console. Gears of War: Judgment and Gears of War III are some of the fantastic games that you can play on the Xbox 360.

He also said that Epic Games don’t have negative things on the move of Microsoft to prolong the cycle of the console and that they are grateful with the console.
