Lots of people know that Superman is one of the best superheroes in almost all media such as comics, movies or television series. After the incredible video game of Rocksteady, the Batman: Arkham City, it is logical to make a superhero video game for Superman. Although Superman is a perfect material for comic book due to his all-around perfection and patriotic persona, he doesn’t fit well when it comes to the gaming world.

It is a fact that death is the main ingredient that drives lots of gamers to succeed in video games. Almost all games involve preventing death by killing your enemy. And the invincibility of Superman proves it too difficult to transform him into the world of gaming.

In Arkham City, gamers play as a superhero but they have to prevent being detected by the guards and have to approach situations with much care as the main protagonist is a normal human. But in the case of Superman, developers will surely find it difficult to create challenges and drive experience due to his invincibility. At first it will be fun but you will surely get bored with killing your enemies with just a single punch.

Although Superman has his own weakness, the Kryptonite, but this single weakness will make the video game very boring and become repetitive situations or enemies. Compared to batman who has lots of weaknesses, Superman’s single weakness will be very dull as you will certainly have a boss fight where Kryptonite will be present.

Setting is another area where a Superman video game will surely struggle. Metropolis is much of a generic city which results in an awful world just like in the Spider-Man video game. The problem is the flying ability of Superman, meaning that his world needs to be very large. Whether making a world where atmosphere is sacrificed for fizzle, for freedom, for area, the flight ability of Superman makes it very difficult to design an incredibly interesting city. The quality of the game will be lost if his universe is too large, especially if it will be released in the current generation consoles.

The constant complexity of creating a video game for Superman is his being wonderful. Compared to Batman and Joker, Superman is too good. While Batman is vulnerable to bullets and uses gadgets to assist him in his crime busting exploits, Superman will just simply yawn at these elements. In Arkham City, Batman needs to do good in order to acquire all the gadgets that will assist him in his crusades, whereas in Superman video game, gamers will have all the powers as they are with him since he was born.

Here are some of the reasons why a video game where Superman is the main protagonist will not surely succeed. A perfect main character removes the elements of character growth and progression as gamers don’t have to struggle in the game. Maybe you, as a gamer, you now realize that a Superman video game will be a big disappointment as you probably love challenges just like other gamers out there.
