Every launching of new gaming consoles such as the Xbox, PlayStation and Wii U, there’s a huge hype that surrounds them. Lots of games cause other people to be concerned as they affect both children and adult regarding issues like depression, addiction and even violence related to playing these titles. Some games like Doom and the latest RPGs nowadays are interactive in nature where gamers need to kill their enemies.

There is a latest happening that concerns about violence that is provoked by video games in Oakley. A young man was attacked personally following an online fight where the man suffered stab wounds of almost two dozen.

The stabbing incident started with the two having a conversation on the headset of an Xbox Live that allegedly led to a teenager age 17 to set off with a gun and knife to assail the one he is conversing with.

Kevin Kemp, the one who is assailed did not mind to show the scars that he got from his assailant where he got twenty-two stab wounds which are already stitched up. Those stab wounds are the result of an online conversation with friend of the family. Kemp said that they were only having a conversation over the headset.

The incident between the two is not a virtual violence as their Xbox conversation turned bitter. Kemp mentioned that the anger was due to the continued feud not inflamed by a video game. He continued that he asked his friend to come over their house and to talk things over in order to resolve the heating conversation.

His friend suddenly entered the front door of the Kemps where he literally pushed through Kevin’s mom with a gun and a knife in hand. The assailant walks to the room of Kevin and points the firearm at him and released the clip from it and showed the bullet and puts the clip back to the gun. The suspect shot Kevin but the bullet went past his head almost hitting him that will surely be fatal if it hit the target.

After the shooting, the stabbing follows then the paramedics came to rescue Kevin.

Dylan Fulkerson, a neighbor of the Kemps stated that they’re standing outside when the paramedics carried Kevin out of their house where he was covered with his own blood. Kevin is okay now but it would be the end of their friendship.

Jimmy Lee of the Sheriff’s Department at Contra Costa County stated that the incident is unusual that he had never heard about this kind of incident happening online, where gamers are chatting or playing video games leading to a personal attack.

The aggressor is facing a burglary charge and 2 counts attempted murder. The office of the DA mentioned that the assailant is going to be charged as an adult and it would definitely be game over for him.

This incident that led to an attack seemed to be the result of playing too much video games and having unparalleled opinions. In order to avoid this kind of incident of happening again, gamers need to be cool and have a rational mind and don’t involve themselves too much in the game.
