Dual core are faster *because* they are running 2 cores at once, so powering down a core would not result in better battery life, it would be worse. It might not sound like it makes sense, but research it a bit there are a lot of decent articles explaining why dual core is better on battery life.

Well the new Snapdragon dual-core cpu’s will be able to power down one core to save battery power. But I have know idea on how good the new GPU will be in the dual-core CPU from Snapdragon.
Wow, that’s amazing. (sorry for late reply) I’m a little jealous for people who will be able to get a dual-core phone. Wonder how well the battery will be on that though, lol
